Xiaomi launches its new 40-inch 1080p Xiaomi Mi TV 2 for just $320

For all entertainment buff people out there, here comes an affordable smart TV to entertain their living room. Xiaomi on Tuesday in China revealed its new 40-inch Mi TV 2 variant following its Android-based Mi TV 2 lineup. The new Mi TV 2 model costing only $320 is said to be an affordable low priced smart TV yet with really good features making headway in the smart TV market. The first sale of the 40-inch Mi TV 2 is start from March 31 exclusively on Xiaomi’s China website.

Xiaomi Mi TV 2 Specifications:

This new Xiaomi Mi TV 2 features 40-inch 1080p full HD screen. A Sharp SDP X-GEN full-HD along with a ‘Radiant’ LED backlit panel gives the TV the crisp display.  It also gets a 14.4mm bezel altogether rendering a contrast ratio of 5000:1. The TV frame is slim with just 14.5mm thickness. The previous model of the Xiamoi Mi TV 2 lineup sports a 49-inch 4K UHD display.
As like its previous model, this new 40-inch Xiaomi Mi TV 2 also runs MIUI OS that is based on Android 4.4 KitKat. And according to Xiaomi it is to get upgradeable even to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS but failed to provide a time-frame for the update. The smart TV comes packed with a 1.45GHz quad-core MStar 6A908 SoC processor assembled with a Cortex-A9 CPU that is again coupled with Mali-450 MP4 GPU and 1.5GB of DDR3 RAM. The internal storage capacity of the television is 8GB.
As per Xiamoi the new Mi TV 2 is to support H.264, H.265, MPEG4 and also REAL video decoding along with 10-bit hardware decoding. The video formats supported by the smart TV include, Mp4, RM, MOV, FLV, AVI, TS, and MKV.
The Mali 450 M4 GPU is responsible for the enhanced TV and gaming experience. In general, for entertainment and playback the TV gets the H.265 10-bit hardware decoder that supports all the above mentioned video formats.
And for audio clarity, the smart TV comes with Dolby MS12 virtual surround sound technology. This comes with built-in speakers with Dolby MS12 virtual surround technology that is not available in its previous 4K Mi TV 2 model which to keep up to its thinness as possible uses an external sound bar. But here in this new Mi TV 2, despite it having integrated speakers looks to be thin at just 14.5mm being its thinnest point.
To add up to its aesthetic value, the TV is available in a variety of vibrantly colored rear casings for buyers. Just to remember, the company last year released its more advanced Android-based smart TV that posed a 49″ panel of 4K resolution costing $645.
March 31 would be the day when this smart TV is to be out in the China market. However, it non-availability outside China is a sad thing for all those interested global buyers. The only country that could expect this affordable brilliant smart TV is India.
