WhatsApp is not Banning Users Permanently from Its Service but Blocks Third-Party Clients

WhatsApp is not Banning Users Permanently but is blocking Third-Party Clients apps

For quite some time there has been reports circulating the web about WhatsApptightening its policy in terms of third-party WhatsApp client applications usage. The recent being (as said) those using an unofficial WhatsApp client app are to be banned for life from WhatsApp. But that’s not the case, says WhatsApp. Moreover, there’s been no larger policy implied by the Facebook-owned company for clearing up its third-party apps usage.
In January, if remembered, WhatsApp started banning users from its service when they were found to have installed an unofficial third-party WhatsApp mobile application. And for them to be allowed back to its service, users had to uninstall the aberrant app from their devices which allowed them to download the authorized WhatsApp version from the app store.  The policy was also explained by the company via an FAQ on its website.
Also at the same time a popular app maker reported of him receiving desists from WhatsApp with regards to his application’s development. The company also explained its reason for the crackdown being related to security and privacy. It made it clear that the company cannot guarantee these kinds of apps safe as it is not controlling their source code.
The main problem of these third -party app usage lead to disastrous results as in the case with Snapchat. It was when Snapchat users got hacked last year; the company was able to find out that the event termed “The Snappening,” occurred because of the usage of third-party applications that let to insecurities.
The main confusion relating to WhatsApp’s policy on third-party clients is the use of the terminology “lifetime ban.” This made users think that they are being banned from WhatsApp forever, which is actually not the case. All this cropped up from a WhatsApp+’s developer posting in his Google+ with the statement as WhatsApp has began a “Permanent Account Disable” recently. This started taking rounds in the web which led to all this confusion, states Techcrunch.
The policy of WhatsApp stands still, which is if users are found using WhatsApp+ or for that matter any other third-party app then they would no more be able to use WhatsApp, this was what the company previously explained.
Now the only shift with the policy is that, before affected users were issued a 24-hour “temporary” ban associated with a countdown timer displaying ban complete time. But now this is not the case, affected users until they uninstall the third-party apps are simply not allowed to use the WhatsApp’s services.
WhatsApp initially issued a 24-hour “temporary” ban with a countdown timer to affected users
A WhatsApp spokesperson confirmed on this regard that there is no permanent ban issued to the user but that the users would be banned from using its services until they uninstall the third-party WhatsApp client applications such as WhatsApp+ and so on. This means only after users remove third-party client applications like WhatsApp+, OgWhatsapp, WhatsApp Reborn and so from their smartphone, they would be able to use the official WhatsApp services.  There is no permanent ban or ban for life for their account and connected phone number from WhatsApp.
