The Room
iPad game is a puzzle solving game and also a unique game. In this
game, the puzzles comes in the form of several intricately designed
boxes that the player have to unlock to find the secret within and the
surfaces of these boxes are covered with an amazing number of small
puzzles in which the player have to solve. Finding the answer to one
shows the clue to the next and step by step, the player need to solve
all of them and eventually open the box and then move to the next one.
The design of these puzzle boxes and the level of detail poured into
them is absolutely amazing and also, the way some of the clues are
hidden are actually in plain sight but unless the player solves one of
the puzzles and there is no way for the player to know what actually
looking at is part of the next one. In order to begin solving a puzzle,
the player have to click on a point of interest which zooms into view
and the puzzles are usually riddles whose clues are spread around the
box. Moreover, the player will find a key hole but in order to find the
key that fits into it, the player have to solve the right puzzle as
because the key itself is a mini puzzle and the player have to adjust it
into the proper shape to fit the keyhole. Some times, somethings cannot
be seen by the naked eye and in that case, the player have to get the
help of a lens provided and the lens reveals the hidden secrets and
markings that usually requires rearranging to fit a proper order. If in case, If the game gets stuck, the game has a useful hint system which gently nudges the player in the right direction and the player gets three hints for one puzzle, starting from stating the obvious to pretty much telling the player exactly what to do and this hint system is expected so easy to use or had some sort of penalty because at times it is quite easy to just give up and use a hint instead of it.
The Room ipad game’s has a excellent hardware and there is no joystick and virtual button and tapping on an object to zoom in and then interact directly with the objects on the screen. Sliding on a ring to open it and then turning the key to twist it, pressing a button operate it, pulling a drawer to open it an d this type of the direct interaction with the objects helps to make the player feel part of the game rather than just someone operating it from a distance. The Room ipad game especially makes fantastic use of the gyroscope in certain levels, even-though mentioning that part would ruin the puzzle.
The Room ipad game comes with a creepy, haunting theme and with an equally creepy backstory of a man who discovered some strange object with the hidden powers and the player will be learning about the story of the game through parchments that the player finds hidden inside the boxes that slowly unfolds over the course of the game and it is not exactly the greatest story ever told but helps set the tone of the game.
The Room – Graphics and Sound:
The Room ipad game’s visuals are unbelievably life-like and the wood on the boxes looks photorealistic, more particularly, if the player have the new iPad with the high resolution Retina display. The game’s textures and the level of detail in the carpentry on some of these boxes is stunning and even when zoomed-in everything remains sharp and crystal clear and the lighting is also wonderful and sets the tone very well and additionally, even with this type of detail-heavy visuals, the game operates very smooth. The Room ipad game’s sound is simply wonderful and in the absence of the sound, the game would have lost half its charm. It is not about how much sound the game holds, but rather how less of it there is and there is no background music at all. Sitting in complete silence in a dark room of an abandoned house solving a riddle using clues left by someone who presumably is dead is quite an experience and the only occasional sounds that the player wound hear are the machinery at work or the creaking of the house when solving the puzzles. The best way to enjoy this game is in a dark room with the headphones on and when creating an atmosphere, both the visuals and the sound does a fantastic job.
