If the deal progresses and is successful Hutchison will be the Google’s major global partner in the vicinity. This will be the first of a kind partnership and aid the Mountain view company to cut international roaming charges for some of the countries.  Hutchison’s services are spread across countries like Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark and Austria.  By creating this global network Google aims at providing uniform costs for calls, texts and other data no matter where the subscriber is located.

Official Reports

There are no official reports regarding the announcement. But last month Google had confirmed that it would try a hand at the mobile network arena. It claimed that it will try to utilise the already existing network infrastructure.  Network infrastructure from other operators and start off the services at a smaller scale.  Analysts have predicted that Google’s network will be putting a huge pressure on the  cost of America’s biggest mobile operators like AT&T and Verizon. These two are the market leaders with high profits than other European counterparts. The European mobile operator market is already very competitive. Especially there is a lot of competition in eliminating roaming charges that are already in the road map of many service providers.

Google’s Mobile Network: Free Roaming

This deal will be very beneficial for those who travel to other countries. Roaming charges are very high these days. International roaming fees are charged to all mobile phone service. Services ranging from calls, text, and data transfers are charged while roaming. The only thing that people have to do is pay the outlandish international roaming charge or travel without mobile services. This has been a challenge for quite sometime now. Google’s take on this area may seem to make a big change.

Free International Roaming Schemes

In France there is a unique offer that. Iliad Group’s Free Mobile  service provides its customers with 35 days of calling, text  and data per year in 15 other countries. The offer stands mainly for European countries but it is said to expand the services to Canada also.

On the Whole: Will Free International Roaming come to Action?

But as the carriers make their money mainly through roaming charges, little is known as to how far the plan will succeed. Instead of cutting down the roaming charges, the charges were lowered down so that the companies are not disappointed.
