Hello app introduced by Facebook to replace Android Dialer

Facebook is introducing an app CALLED Hello that is on the verge of  modernizing phone calls. This app is aimed at TRYING to put Facebook as the hub for all communications.What’s catchy is that the app lets you make free calls over Wi-Fi. Making phone calls over the phone’s network is starting to fall out of fashion. But there are about a bunch of people around the globe who make billions of phone calls everyday. Business calls are on the top of the list. But still there haven’t been any great innovations to make your phone making experience easier. There are always CASES when phones don’t always recognize the numbers, managing of contacts is also a difficult task. With Wi-Fi calling trending in, not many people take advantage of this technology.  Facebook has introduced the Hello app to fix all the issues.

 

Hello App

The Hello app replaces the Android Dialer. This is an attempt to make it MOREFacebook centric.

There are three key features:

• The Hello app uses Facebook to identify callers so that you come to know who is calling, even in CASE you do not have their contact information stored.
• The Hello app also prevents and eases unwanted callers from REACHINGyou on your phone.
• The Hello app comes with a strong and powerful search feature for finding the numbers for local business DETAILS.

• Hello app promotes using VoIP(Voice Over INTERNET Protocol) for FREEvoice CALLS over Wi-Fi.
  
• This free voice calls feature has been a part of Facebook Messenger, and is expected to be of more use inside the dialer.

Other Free Dialers on Android

There have been quite a lot of free dialer replacements for Android. There are also a bunch of them that have become very popular. Most of the smartphone users find that the native housed in dialer is good ENOUGH. There are most of us who don’t bother replacing the default dialer. There is the Google’s Hangout dialer that has around 5 million downloads. Viber also is popular and has more than 100 million downloads on Android.

Failure of Home

 Facebook is still vicious from the failure of Home. The Home project was to replace the Android homescreen and lockscreen with the News Feed. This marked the BEGINNING of Facebook centric smartphone operating system. This was launched way back in 2013. The users very pretty cool to the idea and there were fewer than five million downloads.

Hello app: Design

•  The Hello app uses the Google’s Material Design Principles.
• It maintains the Facebook BLUE and white look.
• The app is organized into four main tabs of Recent calls, The dialer, CONTACTS and Settings.
• When you RECEIVE a call from a new number, Facebook tries to match it with a USER profile.
• It finds a match only when the Facebook user has enabled finding them by their phone number.
  
  
• The person’s face and a miniature profile will pop up on the phone.
• You may view their face, hometown and mutual friends if any among some of the other information that the USER has enabled to view.
• After the call you may also view their additional information if needed.
• Some of the screen shots also revealed that there may be some sort of call blocking.  Actually Hello app does not block NUMBERS in the actual SENSE, it just diverts them to voicemail.
• Hello crowdsources consists of a list of commonly blocked numbers and will also send calls from the list to voicemail on your behalf.
• You may also block any other nuisance number through a single tap.

Hello App: A useful local Search Engine

The Tag line that fits the Hello app: A useful local search engine.  This is a search engine that ties Facebook’s local listings for easy calls. In CASE you need a restaurant number all that you need to do is just type in the name of the restaurant and if the restaurant has Facebook page, Hello will surface all the shared information of the restaurant’s page. This is quite a handy feature.

Bottomline:

Facebook has no plans TO MAKE MONEY from the app directly. Hello isn’t built to reach the scale of even Messenger, it isn’t likely to ever make it to iOS, given the system-level controls it needs to operate. But by improving on Google’s mediocre contacts app, it could gain a modest following  and give Facebook experience in building more modest mobile utilities. The path to a more successful version of Home may now be under construction, brick by brick.
