Many of the major e-commerce websites are ruling the Indian market. With growing popularity, they have introduced apps so as to help people shop in an easy way in any part of the country. As advancement to the step, one of the famous e-commerce companies, Flipkart, has decided to go app-only by the end of this year. Earlier,Myntra was the only website to have transformed to app.

In a recent meeting, the Company’s Chief Product Officer Punit Soni talked to his employees about introducing this new concept and making more profit than ever. Thus, they have come to this conclusion that they will be going app-only from September this year. Being the country’s largest online retailer, Flipkart acquired fashion e-tailor Myntra in 2014. Thus, Flipkart is on the path to success with bringing on this new idea to reach maximum customers in a smaller duration of time.

Flipkart scales heights of success with their new idea
Initially, mobile was only an option for a few elite people of the country. But these days, with the growing popularity and lower rates, mobiles have become every individual’s personal and basic need. As a result, India is slowly transforming from mobile first to mobile only country. At present, Flipkart is going with the mobile first approach. This is because around 70% of their customers shop using app. This is a huge number which has compelled the company to go app-only. Not only this, they are also working on many of the newer aspects which will help the customer to shop better and in a hassle free manner. Also, they can avail discounts and offers which are designed mainly for people using this app.
In today’s date, people are constantly using the website as well as the app for online shopping. This is because they have either of the options to place their order and get the product. Thus, the company is continuing with both the modes of shopping as of now.

Flipkart has gained a huge popularity in small time
According to the statistics, Flipkart has more than 30,000 sellers online and more than 45 million registered customers continuously make use of this e-commerce website to order products. Flipkart came up in October 2007 and within 8 years it has become capable of acquiring more than 10 million page visits daily. Their products reached to about 1000 cities on a daily basis and on an average, they delivery about 8 million shipments in a month.
Although apps make life easier for the common people as well for those who own the app, many industry experts are of the opinion that going app-only might not be the best idea for the company. This is because every one doesn’t own a smart phone. Other than this, installing the app requires space which might not be available in everyone’s device. Thus the company can miss many customers due to such small reasons.
In short, going app-only is a dicey change which can either fetch best results or make the customers go for alternative options.
