Windows 10 will
be the last version of Windows says reports from the company’s site.
This just implies that Microsoft’s updates to Windows version will
remain the same from now on. Microsoft to move to smaller and more
frequent updates in the same sequence.
The development executives of the firm
have confirmed that Windows 10 will be the last major release of the
operating system from Microsoft. The company has also confirmed that
future updates will come in an ongoing manner once this new version of
Windows I,e Windows 10 is released.
Notes from the Microsoft’s Ignite Conference held at Chicago |
“Right now we are releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows , we are still working on Windows 10.”
The company has also added in a statement,
“Recent
comments at Ignite about Windows 10 are reflective of the way Windows
will be delivered as a service, bringing new innovations and updates in
an ongoing manner, with continuous value for our consumer and business
customers.”
Windows as a Service |
The future is expected to be one of
“Windows as a Service”, with the final version of Windows 10 being
updated as necessary. It is rather better than holding back for the
major paid for update.
It is expected that in the future that Windows could be more easily updated like Mac OS X.
These updates need to be small , free and updates that are periodical.
Or like Google Chrome browser in which updates come almost weekly. That
too these updates on Chrome come with barely any user intervention.
Windows 10 |Bottomline |
However large feature additions will
still come. Even though the operating system name does not change when
they do there will some large feature additions. The most important
feature of Windows 10 will be the unification between the desktop and
mobile operating systems. But at the launch of Windows 10 only the
desktop device will be supported. Windows 10 on mobile devices is
expected sometime later.
