Chrome OS to merge with Android Platform for PC

According to the Wall Street Journal, tech giant Google is reportedly going to merge its Android and Chrome OS into a single operating system. It will most probably be available by next year. Google is assimilating Chrome OS into Android for PCs. But the two platforms will continue to co-exist as separate operating systems.  Reports suggest that the OS has been past for two years.
According to Wikipedia,
“Chrome OS is an operating system based on the Linux kernel and designed by Google to work with web applications and installed applications.”

It looks like mobile computing for Andorid will still be the same. Google will however extend Android like functionality to the PC. Google is also said to offer its OEM partners for Chrome OS the option to stick with the current platform or it may switch to the new Android based OS.
